A printed menu is familiar, but it has to be reprinted with every price, item or promotion change. With a digital (QR) menu you print the QR cards once; the menu itself is updated online.
Point-by-point comparison
- Price changes: A printed menu needs reprinting; a digital menu goes live instantly from the panel.
- Sold-out items: With a printed menu the waiter has to say it; on a digital menu the item appears faded and cannot be ordered.
- Foreign languages: Each language means a separate print run; a digital menu is one menu in 6 languages.
- Photos: Photos increase printing costs; on a digital menu every item can have a photo.
- Allergens and calories: They take up space on a printed page; on a digital menu they sit in the item details and Digi filters by allergen.
- Ordering: With a printed menu guests wait for the waiter; with a digital menu they order from the QR code on the table.
How do I calculate the cost?
Annual printing cost is roughly: number of tables × cost per menu × number of reprints per year. Enter these three values in the calculator on our home page to compare your yearly printing spend with the plan price. Printing the QR cards is a one-off cost and is not included in the plan price.
Should printed menus disappear completely?
Not necessarily. You can keep a few printed menus for guests without a phone or who prefer paper; your main menu always stays up to date digitally. For more benefits of QR menus read What Is a QR Menu?, and for price list rules see our 2026 Regulation article.
